Couture Planet Handbags

Couture Planet Handbags, Inspiration is Everywhere Headline

When I laid eyes on Couture Planet’s handbags and clutches, it was love at first sight. Not only are these attractive handbags whimsical and charming, they are made from 100% post-consumer newspaper. To carry one of these unique bags is a win-win fashion statement.

I purchased the Matisse bag, shown above, with the headline Inspiration is Everywhere. It’s a message I will be happy to carry on my arm. Here’s the reverse side of my bag.

FYI, this is not a sponsored post.

Couture Planet, based in Lynn, Massachusetts, is run by partners Kathy Cormier and Michelle Kaneis. I met Kathy Cormier, one of the company’s founders, at the Boston Flower and Garden Show. My friend Zoe and I chatted with Kathy about her beautiful bags.

The company sells a variety of handbags and accessories sporting headlines and photos from the fashion, art, culture, food, travel and sports sections of newspapers and magazines. The newspaper and magazine pages are treated with a cool press laminate, which makes the bags waterproof.

The design choices are beautiful and clever. For example, one bag had a snappy gray tabby cat on the front and the society pages on the back.

Wouldn’t this bag be perfect for the foodie in your life?

Some pocketbooks display photos of designer handbags. Kathy told me that one customer joked that her Couture Planet handbag was probably the only designer bag she would ever own.

The inside of the bags are nicely lined with more newsprint. The larger pocketbooks (Stella and Coco styles) have snap closures and an inside pocket. Bags come with a choice of clear lucite or tortoise colored handles. You can opt for a longer black leather strap, so that you can carry your bag over your shoulder. The repurposed leather straps are made by a family-owned company in New England.

Here’s a photo I took with my phone of some of the bags at the show. (I loved the bag on the upper right, which features an A to Z guide to wallpapers.)

You can get pocketbooks displaying your favorite sports team, such as this bag for New England Patriots fans or this bag for Philadelphia Eagles devotees. I saw a bag with a map of Nantucket island. Bags with Martha’s Vineyard maps are also available.

Couture Planet also makes clutches (called Marilyn), zipper-closed bags with leather wrist straps (Envelope) and wristlets with chain or leather straps (Lauren). Here’s a photo I took of some of those choices. This photo doesn’t show the many beautiful Marilyns and Envelopes I admired with stunning floral images.

I have a World Series Big Papi clutch bag from your company. Is there any way for you to add a strap or handle to ut?

    1. Hi Eileen. Couture Planet isn’t my company. I just love their bags and wrote a review of them. I have found the owners to be super helpful and they probably can figure something out for you. Here’s a link to their Contact page: https://www.coutureplanet.com/contact. Or you can click on one of the links to their site in my post and it will take you to Couture Planet’s website, where you can access the contact information. I hope that they can help you. It sounds like a nice clutch!
