Menotomy Sunset Cocktails

Menotomy Sunset Cocktail

This Menotomy Sunset cocktail is the perfect drink for a hot summer night. A delicious blend of tequila, Aperol, lime and agave, it’s a great combination of citrus, bitters and earthy tequila flavors.

Menotomy is the original name of our hometown, now called Arlington. The Menotomy Grill and Tavern gets credit for introducing me to this drink. I ordered this cocktail there and it was love at first sip.

I’ve missed the pub during the quarantine and look forward to returning when it feels safe to do so. In the meantime, I’ve experimented with the Menotomy Sunset cocktail and I think that I have nailed the recipe.

This recipe makes two cocktails.

Tips

  • I recommend serving this on the rocks, but you can also shake it with ice and then pour the icy cold mix into a glass.
  • I used Jose Cuervo Gold tequila, which is what I had on hand, and it worked well in this drink. Experiment with your favorite brand.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 4 ounces Aperol
  • 4 teaspoons agave nectar
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Directions

Add the tequila, Aperol, agave nectar and lime juice to a cocktail pitcher. Stir well to blend the nectar into the drink.

Fill two glasses with ice and add the cocktail to the glasses. Garnish with a wedge of lime and serve.
