We finally have a free weekend. I’m hoping for beach time and relaxing evenings in our backyard.

- These are the only “no show” socks I’ve ever worn that don’t slip off my feet and into my shoes.
Full disclosure — the socks do show with some of my shoes. They are completely hidden when wearing socks with a higher front (such as my Superga sneakers). Hopefully Bombas will design a pair with lower front tops soon. - I am listening to the trials and tribulations of the Jones, Iqbal and Chalfen families in White Teeth by Zadie Smith. Jenny Sterlin is the terrific narrator of this story of two former army comrades (one Bangladeshi, one English), who live in London and are trying to cope with their much younger wives, their confusing children and the middle-class liberal Chalfens (who are overly involved with other people’s children). Smith writes with wit and poignancy about multi-generational and multi-cultural issues.
