I’m looking forward to a long weekend! We’re heading to the island, where we are hoping to spend a lot of time outside and celebrate summer.
I hope that you have a great Labor Day weekend!
- John McCain — Whether we agreed with his politics or not, he spent his life in service to our country. Here a few articles that I’d like to share:
- From the New York Times: John McCain, a Scarred but Happy Warrier.
- From The Atlantic: The Death of Political Courage.
- From NPR: Interview with Senator Tammy Duckworth on Her First Meeting with Senator John McCain.
- Bravo to the Massachusetts students and their supporters, who participated in the 50 Miles More march in support of stricter gun control and student safety.
Here’s what one student had to say, “You can still support the Second Amendment and still want to live and want stronger gun laws. It’s not one or the other.” - Are you feeling the “August Blues?” Here are some ideas about why we have them and what to do to feel better.
- For a dose of cute — Tiny animal sculptures.
- Playing catch up, we’ve just started watching the first season of This is Us. I am liking it.
We accidentally watched the Season Two finale (not sure how we managed that), but after watching the second episode of Season One, we think it will be okay. - This Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic Fried Eggs and Parmesan is on my radar for a future weeknight dinner.
- Do you know about getting “Storrowed?” Students are headed back to college this weekend and here in the Boston area, those using moving trucks are being warned to avoid it.
- Goodness: Lion’s Heart connects teens with volunteer opportunities and helps them track their service hours.
About the photo: A large granite rock seems to begin its ascent from the water, like a breaching whale on Aquinnah Beach, Martha’s Vineyard.
