It’s the weekend!

It's the weekend! Number 52!, Sunset on Plum Island

I’m headed to the Vineyard for the long weekend. I cannot wait to breathe ocean air and gaze up at a sky brilliant with stars! This weekend I am celebrating Sea Salt and Sailor Stripe’s first year anniversary! This is my 52nd “It’s the weekend” post!

I hope that you also have reasons to celebrate this weekend!

I didn’t make this blog public for a while, so only a handful of people were reading it. Now, more than a handful of you subscribe to my blog and I thank all of you for your words of encouragement and support.

If you would like to help me grow my audience, please share the blog with others, comment on my posts and suggest other topics that you would like me to cover.

Thank you all so much for following me.

On to this weekend’s post…

  • The art of “hikaru dorodango” is all about making beautiful shiny spheres out of balls of dirt. People say that making them is meditative and calming. Must try!
  • Words of wisdom from a high school student: My Gender-Fluid Senior Prom.
  • Sometimes life is sad. There is no avoiding it. This comment from a Cup of Jo reader moved me:
“I’m not into quotes but this one has carried me through after the loss of my eight-year-old son: ‘Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.’”
  • Goodness: The previous comment comes from this wonderful post: 17 Wonderful Reader Comments on Grief.
  • Getting ready for summer? Got sunscreen? Here are my favorites.
  • More Goodness: Thank you to my husband, Tom, who faithfully reads my posts and notifies me of any required corrections. Also, thank you for supporting my blog in every way!

I’ve just walked through all the articles on this site and I’m amazed at how much you’ve done in a year’s time. You’ve created a beautiful website (from scratch!) and I love the format of your posts — always an interesting photo and your steady, consistent voice.
Keep it going, you’re doing great! I can’t wait to see where this journey takes you over the next year!
