It’s the weekend!

Edgartown Lighthouse, It's the weekend! Number 48

I have summer on my mind. We’re just starting to see signs of spring, so I’m getting ahead of myself. I have lots of yard work on my list for this weekend (weather permitting).

I hope that you get all of your weekend chores done quickly and have plenty of time for fun.

  • The very important and powerful National Memorial for Peace and Justice opened in Montgomery, Alabama this week.
  • Here’s what the students had to say last Friday. They pointed out that they are the “school shooting generation.” As one 14-year-old said, “We’re still here. We’re still waiting for change.”
  • David Hogg is committed to this cause and doing his homework.
  • Someone from the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History is meeting with my husband’s family to pick up coal balls that my father-in-law donated to the museum before he passed away.
My husband remembers a childhood family vacation when they searched for the coal balls. (Don’t know what a coal ball is? Info here.)
  • I love the idea of using fabric remnants or vintage fabrics to create many outfits from a single piece of fabric. Good for the environment and very stylish!
  • Speaking of warmer weather, check out these hacks to transition your wardrobe into spring. I pulled out a colorful blazer this week.
  • And while I’m on the subject of warmer weather, I’ve been fondly remembering a day I spent on Chappaquiddick, Martha’s Vineyard last summer.
  • Goodness (and fun): Way to celebrate a birthday and help others at the same time. Chip Gaines asked his Twitter followers to help him get his wife Joanna 1 million followers for her birthday. For every new follower she got, he donated $1.00 to St. Jude. (Chip and Joanna are the couple in HGTV’s Fixer Upper and Joanna is the blogger behind Magnolia.)
  • Correction: I just discovered that my post on Flour’s Banana Bread recipe was missing the baking soda. I’ve updated the post to include that important ingredient.
