It’s the weekend!

It's the weekend! Number 334, Photo of the Total Eclipse on April 8, 2024

My weekend is starting early as we head to Brooklyn on Friday morning to celebrate Tom’s big life events with Louis and Jorja. I can’t wait for big hugs, delicious food experiences, and city adventures. Life is good!

I hope that you have a great weekend!

On Monday we rose at about 6:00 a.m. and joined the masses heading North to experience the solar eclipse. It was spectacular! I watched the 2017 partial eclipse on a Massachusetts beach and it was a glorious experience, but I’d never seen a total eclipse. A total eclipse is an experience of a lifetime!

After the eclipse experience, we shared a different kind of experience with thousands of people trying to get home. The barely moving traffic jam lasted through Vermont and much of New Hampshire. At one point we spent four hours covering about 10 miles. During the traffic crawl, we switched drivers multiple times, hopping out of the car and chatting with our neighbors on the highway. It was safe. No one was moving. We managed to break out of Franconia Notch (a one-lane section of road) at 4:00 a.m. We dozed in our car for a little while, then gradually finished the last two hours of the trip, pulling up in front of our house at 8:30 in the morning. My bed was so comfortable on Tuesday morning!

Retirement — it’s all about the adventures!

Here’s what I have to share this week.

About the photo: A view of the total eclipse from Derby Center, VT. My husband took this photo.
