I’m looking forward to lots of time outside this weekend, enjoying the beautiful summer weather and eating lots of tomatoes.
Have a great August weekend! I hope that you enjoy tomatoes too!
When I was in college and a night-shift waitress at a Massachusetts coffee shop, a group of drag performers would come in for breakfast after their last show at a local club. I loved waiting on them. They were fun and kind. Being in the service industry, they were patient and easy-going with service people and they were very generous tippers. I looked forward to them coming in every weekend. I went to one of their shows and it was a blast.
I’ve been thinking about that wonderful group of people lately and I hope that they are all doing well. Just thinking of their joyous laughter and how much fun they were to wait on brings a smile to my face.
During my lifetime, I’ve seen progress in the fight for equality, diversity, and personal freedoms. But, more recently, there has been a movement in the opposite direction, making life so much more frightening for many people. People like the performers I waited on many years ago. I’m sure that we can do better.

- This song is very popular this summer. I’m not suggesting that we should all go out and get drunk or high, but the “you do you” sentiment is so supportive. (YouTube)

Thanks for this post, Dottie! Crazy that it’s become a mark of courage to post something like this, but that seems to be where we’re at. And so much more courage is required to head out into the world each day for those who are LGBTQ+. . . . We need to stand up when we can — before it’s too late. Your post does this thoughtfully and effectively. 🙏🏻
Thank you Frances. Just thinking of all of my friends and the wonderful people who I have connected with throughout my life. We’re all part of this wonderful existence.
From the heart Dottie.
Absolutely from the heart, Vicki. I hope that you are having a wonderful summer. Sending you hugs.
