It’s the weekend!

Shapes on the Grange Hall roof

I’m back on Martha’s Vineyard and couldn’t be happier. I am surrounded by ocean, scrub pines, beach roses, brilliant stars and the calls of osprey. Life is good.

Enjoy this first weekend of August.

  • Speaking of osprey, they are all over our island. The parents fly back and forth carrying fish to their young. I tried to capture a photo of a parent feeding the babies, but I wasn’t fast enough. If you want to hear what the babies sound like as they demand food, check out this site and click on Juvenile begging calls.
  • We recently seared some tuna for a seafood pasta dish and it was amazing. I’ll share the seafood pasta recipe when I have time. While you are waiting, this Seared Tuna Salad with Wasabi Butter Sauce on Skinnytaste looks amazing.
  • I’m obsessing over the tulle skirts and dresses offered by ASOS. I can’t believe how many they have. They even have maternity tulle. How cool is that?
    • I love this gold midi tulle skirt. If you want to see it worn by someone who is not a catalog model, check out how Nikki of Midlife Chic absolutely rocks this skirt for a big birthday celebration. She looks stunning. I want her whole outfit (and her waist).
    • The catalog says that this tulle midi skirt is gray, but it looks like a dark dusty lavender to me. I really like the color.
    • This blue and yellow tulle skirt is a great combination.
    • I want to put this midi tulle dress with sequins away for a holiday party. I will twirl a lot when wearing it, just as the model does in one of the photos.
  • Moms, I recommend this post by Joanna of Cup of Jo: Why You’re Already a Perfect Mother. I love this line, “What I hope my boys will remember instead is how my eyes light up whenever they walk into the room, how I listen to their hopes and fears, how I love them so deeply for who they are.”
My son is an adult now, but I sometimes still chastise myself over a few of my parenting mistakes. Still, my son knows how much he is loved. He always calls when he needs someone to listen and be there for him. And my eyes light up when he walks into a room!

About the photo: My husband captured the shadowy shapes of Grange Hall’s trim. The old post and beam barn on Martha’s Vineyard is home to a local farmers market, artisan fairs and many more island events.
