Green Beans with Garlic and Parmesan

If you’re looking for a delicious side to accompany your Thanksgiving turkey or a vegetable dish to serve on top of a bowl of brown rice, you are sure to love these green beans with garlic and Parmesan cheese.

Find the freshest green beans you can get your hands on to make this garlicky green goodness.

The Parmesan cheese adds a tangy umami flavor to these beans.

Tips

  • Cook the beans until they are tender, but still have some crispness to them. They taste better with a little crunch.
  • Add just a little salt. The cheese will add saltiness to the dish.

Ingredients

You need the following ingredients for this green beans with garlic and Parmesan dish.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound green beans, stem ends trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Kosher salt to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Add the olive oil to a large skillet and turn your stove to medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add the beans. Cook the beans for a few minutes. Add the garlic and cook the beans until they are tender, turning them often so that the garlic doesn’t burn. Before the beans are done, add salt and pepper and cook them a bit more.

Put the beans in a bowl. Sprinkle the cheese over the beans and toss everything together. Serve immediately.
