Most people are thrilled to receive gifts of food made especially for them. Here are some options for gifts from your kitchen. Wrap bread loaves in a festive kitchen towel and top granolas or jams with attractive fabrics.

Granolas

Cashew Cranberry Granola, Packaged for Gifts

My granola recipes are adapted from a recipe that my mother-in-law always made. We looked forward to receiving a jar of her granola at Christmas. I’ve taken on the tradition and make a large batch to give to family and friends.

These homemade granolas are so fresh and moist! They last a long time stored in a jar and make wonderful gifts. Purchase a box of canning jars and top them with a cloth cover and a ribbon for gifting. Another storage option is flip-top jars.

Granola is great on yogurt and fruit, spooned on top of oatmeal or stirred into pancake mix. It’s also delicious on ice cream.

  • Cashew Cranberry Granola — A granola bursting with chewy cranberries, sweet coconut, and generous cashew pieces. Healthy oats, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and other tasty ingredients round out the blend.
  • Pecan Cranberry Granola — There are plenty of tasty pecans, right to the last bite of this sweet and crunchy pecan cranberry granola. Flax, sunflower, and sesame seeds are mixed with oats and honey in this delicious granola that will make folks look forward to breakfast.
  • Maple Nut Granola — This is a New England granola made with local maple syrup and cranberries. The mixture includes lots of pecans and walnuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and coconut.

Breads

A loaf of breakfast bread will be welcome during the busy holiday season. Breakfasts are made easier with slices of fresh bread. If company stops by in the afternoon, tea served with slices of your bread will be the perfect offering.

Here are some bread suggestions and you can find many more by searching my blog.

If you happen to have sourdough starter, you can use some of the discard to make these breads.

  • Dukkah — Dukkah is a traditional Egyptian toasted spice and nut blend that is delicious sprinkled over salads and soups, roasted vegetables and grilled fish or meat. It will make an unexpected and welcome gift to anyone who enjoys trying new foods.
  • Savory Granola — Similar to dukkah, you can sprinkle this savory granola on soups and salads. With unusual seeds and herbs, it elevates a simple salad with bursts of crunchy flavor.
  • Smoky Nut and Oat Crunch — A toasted blend of spices, peanut butter, oats, and nuts that tastes great on Thai noodle dishes, grilled vegetables, and salads. It’s hard not to eat this by the spoonful directly from the bottle!
