Early Spring in Central Park, NYC

We spent last weekend in Brooklyn and were so lucky that it was the first warm weekend of spring. We wandered Brooklyn, took photos of food stalls, had brunch and then headed to Manhattan for an art exhibit and a trip to Central Park. We were hoping to see the Mandarin duck that has been hanging out in the park, but we didn’t have a sighting. However, there was plenty to enjoy in the park on a beautiful spring day.

Here are a some signs of spring in the park.

A hopeful trail of crocuses amidst fall leaves – seasonal promises of what lies ahead and reminders of what is past.

Turtles and ducks enjoyed the sun and warmth as much as the rest of us.

Small buds just beginning to show on a tree branch.

More turtles sunning and forsythia showing off its brilliant color.

While we missed the Mandarin duck, there were plenty of wonderful birds to enjoy, including this elegant egret.

We spied this blue heron across the pond.

We saw lots of snowdrops scattered about the park.

There was plenty of spring magic in Central Park last weekend!
