Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse

Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse

This chocolate mascarpone mousse is a delicious alternative to traditional chocolate mousse, which is already very wonderful. I think that you will love this thick creamy version of chocolate mousse!

It’s especially good served with fresh fruit.

Thanks to the mascarpone, which gives the mousse good staying power, this chocolate mascarpone mousse will last in your refrigerator for days (that is, if you can stop yourself from eating it immediately).

This recipe makes six generous servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate (chunks or chips)
  • 1 teaspoon extra dark cocoa powder
  • 5 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar

Directions

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Remove from heat and cool a little.

Mix the cocoa powder and mascarpone cheese in a large bowl.

Add a teaspoon of cream to the melted chocolate and stir. Stir the melted chocolate into the mascarpone. Whip it together until smooth.

In another mixing bowl, whip the confectioners sugar and heavy cream into stiff peaks. Gently fold the cream into the chocolate mixture until blended.

Chill for a couple of hours in the refrigerator before serving.

Serve with fresh fruit.
