I started writing this post last summer (2020), when the number of Covid cases started to decline and I thought that we were over the worst of it. I was taking my time writing it, and before I’d finished, there was talk of a second surge. I decided to put the post aside.  In early October, we made plans with our son and his girlfriend to celebrate Christmas in person. That plan was shelved. Things I’m Thankful For

I don’t remember ever welcoming a new year more than 2021. 2020 was such a hard year. For so many people and in so many ways. People experienced terrible loss. However, in the midst of all the tragedy, there was some magic. New babies were welcomed. Parents watched toddlers celebrate firsts. People fell in love. Pain and joy. It’s a package deal.
