A spinoff of the classic gin martini, the vodka martini is a deliciously crisp, dry and icy cold drink.
Whether you shake it or stir it, the vodka martini has a clear, pure flavor that really hits the spot when you’re in the mood for a cocktail.
This recipe makes two cocktails.
Tips
- I like vodka martinis with olives. Vermouth soaked olives, onion-stuffed olives or jalapeño-stuffed olives are all good choices. If you prefer, you can garnish the drink with a lemon twist and skip the olives.
- Plan ahead and put the vodka in the freezer and the vermouth in the refrigerator. Extra bonus points if you chill your martini glasses too.
- You can shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker or add them to a pitcher and stir (straining the liquid from the pitcher).
Ingredients
- 3 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- ice
- 2 large olives or 3 small olives, or a lemon twist for garnish
Directions
Add the vodka, vermouth and ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and then drain the liquid into two martini glasses.
Garnish with olives or lemon twists and serve.
