It is much easier to sweeten cold drinks with simple syrup than with sugar. The syrup easily blends with liquids, unlike sugar, which sinks to the bottom of the glass and takes ages to dissolve.
Keep a supply of simple syrup in your refrigerator, so that it’s on hand when you need it.
It’s easy to make simple syrup. Pour equal amounts of sugar and water into a saucepan. Heat the ingredients, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved. Cool the syrup in the pan. Store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to three months.
You can also freeze the syrup and thaw it when you need it.
