An imminent snowstorm has hampered our plans for a long weekend in Brooklyn with our son. It seems like a good weekend to light a fire and stay warm (when not dealing with snow removal). Maybe we’ll have to have comfort food and a cocktail or two.
I hope that you are warm and cozy this weekend.
- “But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars.” Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.
- Revenge of the Lunch Lady — Let’s feed our hungry children!
- Time Batching — I need to do this.
I think companies should embrace this, along with their other development practices. - Slow, as it goes — David Lebovitz’s story about trying to use a slow cooker made me laugh. But, I’m also a little put out, because he didn’t share the recipe he adapted for “slow-cooked pork, embedded with the bold flavors of cilantro, garlic, coriander seeds, and citrus.” It has charred tangerine in it for goodness sake! Of course I want that recipe!
- Dining In: Highly Cookable Recipes, by Alison Roman, is now in my wish list. Because I need that recipe! (See previous bullet.) Here’s the Kindle version.
These recipes sound good too:- Grilled Eggplant Dressed with Garlicky Walnuts and Lots of Basil
- Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Hot Honey Browned Butter
- Raw and Roasted Kale with Pistachios and Creamy Pecorino
- Olive-Oil Fried Lentils with Cherry Tomatoes and a Chili-Fried Egg
- Crispy Skinned Salmon with Spicy Radishes and Green Romesco
- Speaking of salad, I think that you’ll love this Salad with Creamy Dill Dressing as much as I do.
- Finally There’s a Backpack Big Enough for All Your Emotional Baggage — Wow! It’s a very big backpack.
- Goodness: Many Helping Hands 365 organized Martin Luther King Cambridge Day of Service (in Cambridge, MA). People will make blankets for the homeless, sort food for local food pantries and make lots of other goodies. Everyone brings donations of food too!
