We’re kicking off the holiday celebrations at our friend Andy’s house. We’ll trim his Christmas tree and eat his holiday stew. There’s something about this season that is so warm and cheerful.
Happy Hanukkah!
I hope that your weekend is warm and full of good cheer.
- During this season of giving, here are ways to help migrant caravan families.
- This week I posted more holiday gift suggestions:
- The editors of The Times Book Review revealed their picks for the best 10 books of 2018.
One of their picks is in my book list of gifts for book lovers. (I’ve updated the list to include Kindle versions of the books, as requested by a reader.) - Speaking of books in my gift list, Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming, is currently the best selling hardcover book of 2018.
- Christine Blasey Ford continues to amaze me with her courage and grace, her latest message, for example.
- If you’re near Cape Cod this weekend and looking for something to do, head over to Martha’s Vineyard for Christmas in Edgartown.
- Only as the Day Is Long — A farewell poem by Dorianne Laux that is beautiful, a little critical and a little funny.
- I can’t wait to try this Peanut Butter Paprika Cookies recipe. I saw the post title and had the same response as David Lebovitz, who shared the recipe, “Oof, why didn’t I think of that?”
- Goodness: Project Semicolon reminds people that their lives matter.
