We’re starting a one-week summer vacation tonight and heading to our beloved island! I’m looking forward to some downtime. Hello lazy mornings, afternoon walks on the beach, bike rides, grilling in the backyard and cocktails on the deck.
I hope that you have a lazy summer weekend too.
- Here are a few things that I hope to do while on Martha’s Vineyard:
- Take a stroll in the quiet beauty of Mytoi, a Japanese-style garden.
- Visit Grange Hall for an Artisans Fair, Farmer’s Market or the World Market.
- Hear the Vineyard Sound.
- Eat some Eidolon cheese from Grey Barn.
- Sip rosé as the sun sets on the scrub pines in the backyard.
At least one of these pink drinks will be enjoyed: Springtime in Paris, Rosé-Aperol Spritz, or Sparkling Rhubarb Cocktail. - Illumination night, the Oak Bluffs fireworks and the Agricultural Fair are all happening during our visit. We should be very busy!
- Do you have a “magic date dress?” I think I need one.
- These pink linen pants are going to be in heavy rotation in my last-month-of-summer wardrobe. Don’t let the photo put you off. The fabric is soft and prettier than in the photo.
P.S. I don’t think I’d wear them with shirts tucked in and the elastic waistband showing. - The last time I wore those pink pants, I was wearing Opi Pink Flamenco on my toes and it was the perfect shade for the pants!
- Decorating a Dinner Party in August is an interactive process. Hint — be prepared to drink some wine.
- If you are going to NYC this summer or fall, I recommend a trip to Wave Hill Public Gardens. What a great place!
- In celebration of vacations and summer, here’s a little dancing for you. Be sure to turn up the sound.
- Goodness: A truly special Martha’s Vineyard wedding. This excerpt made me laugh: Mr. Cosby also pledged to use proper grammar and punctuation when texting and emailing his wife, and to respect her choice of music on long drives — even though she loves a cappella and “it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me.”
