We’re on our way back to Martha’s Vineyard this weekend. We’re going with my in-laws and will celebrate Father’s Day and my mother-in-law’s birthday. My in-laws haven’t been to the island since last fall and they are looking forward to seeing many good friends.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
Just for fun…
- This recipe from Gina at Skinnytaste looks great for dinner: Asian Peanut Noodles with Chicken — Lightened Up.
- This straw hat is so playfully decorated with the coordinated pom poms and braid. It’s perfect for a summer stroll.
- We often enjoy the subtle flicker of candlelight scattered throughout the yard on a summer evening. Our candle holders are old, but these are similar (or these).
On other nights…
when we are feeling a bit more dramatic, the flame torches come out. - I’m thinking about family and all of its complexities – the love and warmth, the misunderstandings and unspoken hurts and, mainly, how important family is to us. I’m currently reading Ann Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread. She has the most charming way of writing about the lives of ordinary people. We know those people. They might be our neighbors or our own families. I also love that the stories take place in Baltimore.
