We’re staying close to home this weekend. We’re having a late Valentine’s dinner celebration tonight and tomorrow we’re having friends over to share dinner in front of the fire.
I hope that you have a warm and cozy weekend.
As we enjoy our weekends, others are not as fortunate. So many people have been impacted by gun violence. It is heartbreaking to know that many more people lost their loved ones this week. There are many things that we can do to help make a difference. Here is one idea: contribute to Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence.
- It’s Random Acts of Kindness week. Camille Styles has 20 suggestions for you.
- These are not your typical president and first lady portraits.
- Right after they married, this couple quit their jobs and traveled for a year. They really got to know each other.
- Her nose might be very important.
- Macy’s is the first major department store in the U.S. to sell hijabs.
- Looking for some new tops to transition from winter into spring? Maybe you’ll like some of these striped tops.
- I made Butter Chicken in my instant pot and it was delicious.
- I want to try making this Tropical Carrot Sweet Potato Soup.
- I typically do not wear a vibrantly red lipstick, but I’d like to give it a try. Here are some beautiful reds, all from NARS:
- Velvet Lip Glide in Mineshaft or No. 54
- Powermatte Lip Pigment in Light My Fire
- Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Dragon Girl
- Lipstick in Jungle Red
- Audacious Lipstick in Annabella or Lana
- I like this excerpt from Natalie Goldberg’s book Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within. “…The biggest struggle was not with the writing, but working out the fear of success, the fear of failure, and finally burning through to just pure activity.”
- Good Stuff: Make America Dinner Again (MADA). Now there’s a concept.
About the photo: Brilliant red roses from my valentine.
