After a week of windy cloudy days and much-needed rain, I’m looking forward to a sunny weekend. I need a dip in the salty sea!
I hope that you have a great weekend with lots of sunshine and outdoor time!
Summer continues on, but there is a slight chill in the air, a harbinger of fall.
I’ve found the last of the tiny wild blueberries on our bushes and enjoyed their fresh flavor. The blue hydrangea blossoms have browned, the basil is getting a little woody, and I’ve spotted a lot of goldenrod in bloom. Summer cycles its way past as I watch. And I am carefully watching and enjoying all of it. The chickadees and goldfinch drinking from a little water dish in the garden. The hummingbirds perching on the clothesline on the lookout for another winged competitor for the feeder. The blooms on the butterfly bush starting out small and gradually developing into large clusters of scented flowers. Stopping to watch the happenings in our yard slows down time for a little while.
I’m eking out every minute of summer, with bike rides, sandy salty beach days, plates of fresh tomatoes with basil, and corn on the cob.
I won’t be posting next week. Enjoy your holiday weekend!
