We’re hosting our friends Dave and Debbie for dinner this weekend and sharing photos from our fall visit to Crete, because Dave recommended that we visit the town of Chania when we were there. I can’t wait to slip back into memories of Greece!
Have a great February weekend!
February is Black History Month and I want to share a great quote from Maya Angelou:
“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.”
Now that we are retired, Tom and I have been scheduling visits with friends, many we haven’t seen in years. It is wonderful to reconnect in person.
A lunch visit with my friends Kim and Kathy, who I worked with at my first high tech job decades ago, was such a glimmer of brightness this week.
Last Sunday night we had dinner with a good friend and former neighbor, Kathleen. We met her boyfriend, Ronnie, and we had the best time catching up.
I’m looking forward to more reunions in the future.
This week, I’m sharing some beautiful visuals from the vegetable and flower world and some recipes that will sweeten our days ahead.
- Veggies Art Print — This vegetable art poster is so appealingly full of color. (Etsy)
- 20 Giant Ball Onion Allium — The photos of the allium will brighten your day. Imagine the actual blooms in your garden! (Etsy)
- Flourless Hazelnut Cake with Whipped Chocolate & Nutella Ganache — This cake looks worthy of a celebration! (Love & Olive Oil)
- Coeur à la Crème with Roasted Strawberry Sauce — If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day dessert, this is one of my favorites. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Blueberry Muffins — These blueberry muffins will sweeten your day and we all need some of that right now! (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: Here’s Barbara Kingsolver’s Facebook post on the women’s recovery residence that the proceeds from her book Demon Copperhead helped to build.
About the photo: Enjoying yellow and orange tulips in our living room for a hint of spring.
