I’m looking forward to slightly warmer temperatures this weekend and getting outside for longer walks.
Have a great weekend!
It was a hard week on more than one level and I’m glad to put it in the rear view mirror. I read books, knitted, and got back to a little exercise after a hiatus last week. The exercise made me feel better, the knitting about my only productivity for the week, and the books – well, they helped me escape.
I’ve been thinking about José Andrés and the people who work with him at World Central Kitchen (WCK). These folks represent the best in people. They show up at disaster sites to feed people in need, such as Los Angeles during the wildfires (Food & Wine), North Carolina after Hurricane Helene (NPR), in war torn Ukraine (NPR), and Gaza (NBC). They are present after earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes. The sole purpose of their work is to feed people. People who have lost everything. People who are helping rebuild neighborhoods or battle fires.
When I feel that times are tough, I try to focus on these kind people, like Chuck Bennett, who feeds people at a local MA homeless shelter. People who drop everything to help others. Delivering clothing and other supplies, providing medical care, feeding the hungry. It’s good to remember how many people are helping others on any given day. It gives me hope.
Here’s what I have to share this weekend.
