I’m looking forward to seeing our friends John and Rita this weekend. I’m excited for walks in slightly warmer weather too.
Have a good weekend!
We’ve watched the California wildfires this week with shock and worry about our family and friends who live there. My heart is with everyone who has lost so much during this disaster. Here are some lists of resources for folks living in the fire areas and ways people can help them:
- How to help those affected by fires raging across Los Angeles County (Los Angeles Times)
- Sending Love to L.A., and What to Do Now (Cup of Jo)
- How You Can Help With the LA Wildfires (Camille Styles)
In Arlington, our walks this week have been very, very cold. I’ve experienced colder weather on visits to Canada, but we don’t get this kind of cold too often. I’m layering, including two hats and thick mittens. Even my teeth are cold! As we walk, we find ourselves in small sections of the walk that are protected from the wind. For a minute, we experience the sun’s warmth and it feels so good! Then the moment is over and we’re back in the cold. By the time we get home our cores are cozy from the exercise and only our faces need to thaw a little.
Here’s what I have to share this weekend.
- Eight Words to Say to a Friend — What a great way to approach helping others. (Cup of Jo)
- 10 Books to Help You Reach Your Goals This Year — If you’re looking for inspirational books to support your 2025 goals, there might be one you like in this list. (Camille Styles)
- Chocolate Stout Cake with Raspberries and Cream — This cake looks delicious! (Joy the Baker)
- Walking Boston, Winter 2024 — Sharing some shots of Boston on a sunny winter day. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: Fire wrecks romance bookstore. Fans step in, make real-life happily ever after. — It’s great to read about how so many people helped this bookseller stay in business. (The Washington Post)
