We’re looking forward to the long weekend. Our friends John and Rita are staying with us and more friends are coming to dinner!
Happy Labor Day weekend!
We have one last week on the island to finish projects, hit the beach, and share some time with friends. We’ve been running around a lot taking care of errands and appointments, which means that I haven’t had any time to write about this lovely August week and how beautiful everything is, as August goes out with a flourish. I’m sure that you’re experiencing it too.
I’m taking time off from posting as I am about to embark on a long trip to Greece. I will be posting on Instagram if you feel like following my trip.
- What’s on Your Last-Gasp Summer Checklist? — My checklist includes more dives into the ocean, my feet in the sand as many more times as possible, more corn and tomatoes, more grilling, and more shooting star sightings. (Cup of Jo)
- Among Women — A great poem by Marie Ponsot about wandering recommended by a reader on this great post on the same subject. (Poetry Foundation and Cup of Jo)
- Ignite Your Inner Rory Gilmore—13 New Fall Reads You Won’t Be Able to Put Down — I still have a pile of summer books, but reading recommendations are always welcome. (Camille Styles)
- Favorite Things, Hibiscus — It’s the season for these stunning blooms. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- French Sidewalk Mosaics — I think that you’ll love these works of art as much as I do. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: Virginia women salvage discarded flowers, give them to strangers — Imagine the joy that these recycled flower arrangements are bringing. (The Washington Post)
