I am excited about a free weekend. After several days of having fun with my sister, I’ll be playing catch-up before we head to the island for a long stay.
Have a great weekend and a happy July 4th celebration!
I’ll be busy enjoying the holiday week and having visitors to the island next week, so I won’t be posting.
I feel completely prepped for summer. One day this week Cathie and I headed north to Gloucester. We hunted for tiny pieces of sea glass, drove through our childhood neighborhood, stopped at our local beach, and took deep gulps of ocean air at every stop. We shared a delicious fisherman’s platter — with my love of clams and her dislike of them working out perfectly. She had her choice of other seafood and I ate every clam on the plate.
We grilled fish and baby potatoes one night, ate lobsters and more baby potatoes another night, and I broke out some of last year’s summer corn from the freezer. Divine!
Another day, Cathie, Tom, and I took the ferry to Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor. We hiked the island and then the beach, where we found lots of sea glass and broken pottery that has been smoothed by the sea. Since you can’t take it with you, I took plenty of pictures of our finds. We had wonderful views of Boston and of planes departing from and arriving to Logan airport. A late day ferry ride back to Boston was the perfect end to the trip!
Between grilling, seafood feasts, beach walks, and fresh ocean air, I’m all about summer right now. Consequently, there’s a summer theme to this weekend post.
