Tom retired today and we’re celebrating this huge life event over the weekend! If the skies allow it on Monday, we’ll head North to see the eclipse.
Have a wonderful weekend!
While I may still take on work contracts from time to time, I’m at least partially retired. It’s exciting and scary to start retirement. On the plus side, there’s no more alarm in the morning, no hoarding vacation days and figuring out how to use them to maximum benefit, no work schedules and deadlines to meet.
On the other hand, there’s that no schedule thing. I find that a little daunting. Structure can be good. We are not the careful planners that several of our already retired friends are. They have carefully curated retirements. We’re not there yet. We’re relishing the idea that we can get up in the morning and do whatever strikes our fancy. We’ve decided to enjoy that state for a little while and then think about adding some structure and making plans for other things that we would like to do. Being footloose and fancy-free for a little while feels just right. First up is some travel, which I’ll tell you about soon.
I have a few things to share this weekend.
- 2024 Total Eclipse: Where & When — Please let there be no clouds on Monday! (NASA)
- Helena Bonham Carter Was Born To Play Her Latest Role — I’d like to see Helena Bonham Carter in One Life! (Bustle)
- 100 years ago, people were eating things that most of us will never taste. So what happened? — This reminds me of the book Edible Memory: The Lure of Heirloom Tomatoes and Other Forgotten Foods and the folks who are saving seeds. (Upworthy and Bookshop.org)
- A Colorful Renovation in Brooklyn — The tiles in this house are calling to me! (The New York Times)
