This weekend, friends and family are coming together for my mother-in-law’s funeral and to celebrate her life. It will be good to be together and recognize the matriarch of the family.
With bitter cold temperatures, I hope that you all stay warm and safe this weekend.
This winter has already challenged my resolve to walk more. The wind is rattling the windows today, the temperatures have dropped, and Tom has just asked if I’m ready to take the walk we talked about over breakfast. As with other days this winter, I want to say no. I want to put on another sweater and stay warm and cozy in the house. But, I’m going to pull on wool socks and sneakers instead. Winter is already so cold and blustery and fierce!
I wrote the previous paragraph last weekend and it’s become progressively colder this week. I did go for a walk that day and it was a wonderful walk. Light snow flurries gently brushed our cheeks and it was a pleasant sensation. My mittens kept my fingers warm. Two hats kept my ears warm. My legs were cold through my blue jeans — reminder to self to wear a pair of leggings under my jeans on cold days. We stopped to have a nice catch-up with our neighbor Dave. When the cold walk that I dreaded was over, I was so glad that I’d done it.
If you’re warm and cozy at home this weekend, here are some quick reads you might enjoy.
