We have another weekend of bitter cold weather and the main objective is to stay warm. Our friends have invited us for raclette tomorrow night. I’m bringing the galette des rois, so I’ll be baking tomorrow.
I hope that you have a warm and safe first weekend of the new year.
- Galette des rois is served during the celebration of Epiphany, which is tomorrow. Here’s the recipe that I use to make it. (I include the “fève.”)
- I’m excited that Ashley Ford is now a contributing writer on A Cup of Jo.
I really liked her article Seeing My Body With Fresh Eyes. It’s about love and self-acceptance and all kinds of good stuff. - Robert Siegel retires from hosting All Things Considered. I will miss his familiar voice. Here’s his signoff.
- So glad that the works of women artists are out of storage and on display at Uffizi.
- In need of some lower calorie recipes to recover from your end-of-the-year festivities? (I sure am.) You’ll find some good ones in Skinnytaste’s Top 25 Most Popular Recipes from 2017. I want to try Roasted Cauliflower Rice with Garlic and Lemon.
- If you are staying in this weekend and need a cocktail idea, here’s a recipe for a classic Manhattan.
- Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018 is…
If you need some items in this color, Etsy has some suggestions for you. - I’m thinking that it could be cool to have a faux leopard fur coat to keep me warm this winter. Here are some options (some have limited availability):
About the photo: Even this sculpture in Old Montreal feels the cold. He looks like he is coming to life and heading off in search of the nearest fireplace (and some clothes).
