We’re headed to Martha’s Vineyard to close up our house for the winter. When I return, I’m rushing to do my Thanksgiving food shopping. I cannot believe the holiday is almost here.
Have a warm and cozy weekend!
Are you busy planning Thanksgiving dinner? Most families have their favorites. I grew up with celery stuffed with cream cheese and olives. It wouldn’t be the holidays without it. In the late 50s or early 60s, my grandmother and mother discovered ambrosia salad and it adorned the table from then on. I make it some years, but I don’t cling to that food tradition. While it is delicious, everyone seems to have a bite or two and the rest is wasted.
Gravy is a must and my mother-in-law always made a great gravy. The next generation now makes the gravy, with MIL overseeing the effort. Around the table, someone always brings up the year that my husband accidentally poured generous amounts of salad dressing over his turkey and mashed potatoes. It was in a creamer that looked like a gravy boat, so how was he to know?
I won’t be posting next week, so I’m wishing you a great Thanksgiving and a relaxing long holiday weekend. Here are some Thanksgiving recipe ideas.
