We’re flying to California tonight for a vacation week. I cannot wait to see palm trees and stick my toes in the sands of West coast beaches!
Have a great weekend!
We’re flying into Los Angeles, where we’ll see friends and family before heading up the coast to Santa Barbara’s Pinot Noir region. We’re planning to visit wineries and take in the scenery. Then, we’ll make our way up to San Francisco, where we’re going to see my friend Kim’s art exhibit and visit with her family before flying home.
We haven’t taken any big trips or been on an airplane since before the pandemic, so this is pretty exciting for us.
We’re staying at a funky and charming little hotel in Culver City. We’ve stayed there before and I loved the profusion of bougainvillia climing over the roof, the brightly painted walls, and the courtyard filled with plants. There were pomegranate trees! At night, the courtyard sparkles with light from flickering candles that sit atop the mismatches tables outside each room. It’s simple place, with so much personality. I hope that nothing has changed. You can see a photo of the hotel in the first post below.
Everything I’m sharing this weekend has a California theme. And, yes, I had to stretch a bit to stick to the theme.
- Here are two posts from my last trip to California:
- Kim Anno: Animals’ Reading Room — Here’s a little information about Kim Anno’s art exhibit and here’s her website, where you can learn more about her work. (Anglim/Trimble)
- ‘Sideways’ is Still Impacting the Wine Industry — This movie takes place in the wine region we’re visiting. Hopefully we’ll be sipping some good Pinot Noirs. (Food and Wine)
