We’re looking forward to an extra long weekend. We’ll grill lots of goodies, starting with garlic scapes from our garden. Thunderstorms are predicted, but we’re hoping breaks in the storms allow time on the beach.
Have a great weekend and a festive July 4th celebration!
Summer has arrived on Martha’s Vineyard, with humid days and hot sun. Tourists pour off the ferries in their flip flops, bathing suit straps peeking out from the collars of their tee shirts.
At night, thunder rumbles over the house, racing into the distance, and flashes of lightning illuminate the sky.
Speaking of flashes, we started seeing fireflies a couple of weeks ago. They arrived early this year, showing up in time to entertain our visitors. There is nothing more delightful than blinking fireflies, sparkling in the shrubbery. The game of spotting them commences, as the insects flit through the yard, always on the move.
I had my first dip in the sea. It was briny and chilly, a refreshing early summer ritual of seeing who goes in first.
As I embrace lazy summer days, I’m taking a break from posting next week. I’ll be back the following week.
Here’s what I have to share this weekend.
