We’re having our annual holiday dinner party this weekend. The kids will have a Yankee swap and decorate Christmas cookies. We’ll eat good food and relax by the fire.
Have a wonderful weekend and a very merry Christmas.
- I hope that everyone who celebrated Hanukkah had a wonderful holiday.
- Yesterday marked the winter solstice. Starting today, we get a little more light each day! (About the solstice.)
- Verily’s post Real Women Share the No. 1 Holiday Tradition That’s Inspiring Them Most This Year focuses on heart-warming holiday goodness.
- The last segment of Monday’s Boston Public Radio show focused on favorite Christmas movies. If you feel like listening to everyone’s favorites, you’ll find it here (the segment begins at 2:22:35).
- Hundreds of people showed up in North Carolina for the annual re-enactment of U.S. cargo planes dropping candy for Berlin children during the Cold War. Gail Halvorsen came up with the idea. He was one of the pilots responsible for dropping food and supplies to the people of Berlin. Listen to the story here.
- Let’s talk about holiday food for a minute.
- These Spiced Orange Date-Paste Rolls would be great for Christmas breakfast.
- Sweet and Salty Walnuts are delicious party snacks and a great last-minute hostess gift.
- If you still need a holiday dessert idea, consider one of these two stunners:
- Honestly Yum’s Winter Citrus Pavlova
- Joanne Chang’s Croquembouche
- I recently had Russian Tea Cakes warm from the oven and they are still my favorite holiday cookie.
- Tom and I made Rolled Sugar Cookies, cut into many holiday shapes. The kids (who aren’t kids anymore) will decorate them at our party. They are part of the holiday foods that we deliver to a local homeless shelter on Christmas morning.
