Later today, I’m gathering with family members to spread the ashes of much-loved parents, who passed years ago. We’ll scatter their ashes in the sea in the town they dearly loved. Tomorrow, I head to my beloved island for the summer.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
We finally finished Succession and I am glad that it is over! I know that some people feel it is a humorous show, but I was overwhelmed by all of the backstabbing and nasty behavior. It left me craving something kinder, like Schitt’s Creek. Schitt’s Creek, with its increasingly sweet and empathetic characters, was my escape during the early months of the pandemic. It lifted my spirits for an hour or two in the evening.
Speaking of empathy, I read two blog posts about acts of kindness and want to share them with you in this weekend’s assortment of readings.
- Small Kindnesses and Other Stories — When loved ones offer kindness during tough times. (High Heels in the Wilderness)
- When Have You Felt the Kindness of Strangers? — A reminder that we can ask for help. (Cup of Jo)
- The ghosts in my garden keep on giving, year after year — My garden has plants gifted by friends who have passed and friends who are still around to admire their plants in my flower beds. The peonies I was given by a former coworker are in bloom right now. (The Washington Post)
- The Saddening — I stumbled upon this article, written at the start of the pandemic, and found it an interesting read three years later. (The Outline)
- Green Pea Spread — Here’s a delicious and easy appetizer recipe. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: June Stargazing: Planning A Summer Soltice Spectacle — If I could stay awake for it, I’d love to see the sunrise at Stonehenge. (Good News Network)
