We’re getting our Christmas tree this weekend. I’m looking forward to the house smelling like pine.
I hope that you have a relaxing weekend.
- Speaking of Christmas trees—there’s a shortage that will impact us for years.
Also, real trees might have less of a carbon footprint than fake trees. - There are so many secret Santas among us. Here are tales of a couple:
- Someone paid off layaway balances at a toy store in Arizona. At a nearby diner, someone gave the waitstaff a $2000 tip.
- Secret Santas paid off layaways in New Jersey and Pennsylvania stores.
- Here’s an idea for that “difficult to buy for” person in your life or the “person who has everything.” Pay for a year of school for a girl in need and dedicate it to your loved one (sending that person a card about the gift).
- I want to make these warm gin-marinated, herbed olives. Thanks to Leslie over at Cupcakes and Cashmere for bringing them to my attention.
- Time named its Person of the Year— make that People of the Year.
- This is a moving video clip of Joe Biden offering encouragement to Megan McCain about her father’s battle with cancer and talking about his own son’s battle.
- Everyone’s tweeting and talking about Cat Person. Here’s the story behind the lips photograph that accompanies the story.
- A new t-shirt and a good cause—buy a 100% Human Tee and $5.00 is donated to Equality Now, an organization that promotes equal rights for women.
- If you need to bring dessert to a party and don’t have time to bake or if you want to send sweets to someone for the holiday, I recommend a rum cake from Island Treasures Gourmet. They are soooo good. My personal favorite is their original Vanilla Rum Cake, but many people love the Chocolate Rum Cake. They have a Four-Pack Rum Cake Sampler, so you can try several flavors.
- Early this morning (when I was in my pre-coffee state of mind) my husband showed me some artwork by Baron Von Fancy. I told him that we need one of these prints.
- If you’re still shopping for gifts, my Holiday Gift Giving Ideas might help. If you still need to wrap, consider this reusable wrapping idea.
