I’m looking forward to celebrating Tom’s birthday with a home cooked meal tonight. We’re also going to Connecticut on Sunday to spend the day with his mother. Hoping for a sunny day filled with spring flowers.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Last weekend I had a reminder of the importance of connections, of community. We get so much from our community. They give us companionship. They provide assistance, bringing chicken soup and comfort when we are sick. They alert us to events we would find interesting and sometimes accompany us to them.
Our connections — family and friends — give us love and support. They also introduce us to new words, interesting books, wonderful stories.
Last weekend my connections brought me a couple of wonderful tidbits. My sister, Diana, posted a wonderful word on Facebook. “coddiwomple” is a verb that means “To travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination.” I’m all for doing more of that.
Tom directed me to a piece by Brian Doyle about visiting kindergarten. It brought a smile to my day. It was a cold, dreary March day that needed a kindergarten visit, like Brian Doyle’s November day.
