Arctic weather has arrived in New England and I’ll be wearing wool socks to bed for a couple of nights. Luckily, it is supposed to warm up on Sunday, so those wool socks can be abandoned soon.
I hope that you have a warm and cozy weekend!
There is a neighborhood near us that has a very artistic feel to it. Old homes are beautifully painted and yards include various outdoor displays. When the temperatures drop to freezing, many of the residents make large ice candle holders. In the evenings, the street is lined with glowing candles reflecting off of the icy walls.
We first saw these candle holders a couple of years ago and we’ve been making them ever since. We fill large buckets with water and put them outside to freeze. The top and sides freeze first and the inside remains liquid. When the sides are thick enough, we slide the ice out of the buckets, chip into the tops and dump out the water. The hollow centers are where we place the candles.
When winter gives you freezing temperatures, make ice candle holders.
