It’s the weekend!

It's the weekend! Number 277, From the The Blue Trees exhibit by Konstantin Dimopoulos at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA

With snow and ice moving in, I plan to make a batch of Bolognese sauce this weekend. Maybe we’ll eat our pasta dinner in front of a fire.

Have a warm and cozy weekend.

My holiday break was a great mix of projects, people, places, and relaxation. I filled the pre-Christmas days with holiday preparations and the Christmas/post-Christmas days with visits to family and friends, cooking sessions with Louis and Tom, long walks — some in glorious places, late nights in front of the fireplace, and sleep-ins so late that almost half the day was over when I’d finished my coffee.

I indulged in a trip to our local used book store, where I dropped off books I’d read and purchased new books to stuff into odd spaces on the crowded shelves in our house. I found a few cookbooks and novels to enjoy in 2023.

By New Year’s Day, I’d put away the wrapping paper, gotten the house back in order, and set up a filing box for 2023. I felt prepared for the return to work.

As my work week progressed, it was busier each day. I wonder if that is a sign of what is ahead.

My first weekend post of the new year includes a few random pieces and some “best of 2022” lists, further below.

  • Pantone’s color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta .
Here’s part of how Pantone describes the color: “Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.”

  • 2023, Keeping it Simple — Looking forward, the new year is all about keeping it simple for me. I actually did a little decluttering one night this week to get that ball rolling. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
  • Goodness: For better health this year, keep it simple — It seems like others think that keeping it simple is a good idea. (The Washington Post)
