We’re looking forward to having friends over for brunch in the back yard. We haven’t seen them in years and it will be great to catch up.
I hope that your weekend is full of fresh air and good friends.
I thought that my cataract surgery at the beginning of the year was all that I would need done to my eyes, but it turns out that wasn’t the case. I recently noticed a few extra floaters, one with an unusual shape. Last weekend, I knew something was off. It turns out that I had a small retinal tear and needed a little laser surgery this week.
I have two take-aways from the experience. First, an unusual change in floaters or flashes needs to be checked out immediately. Here’s a quick article about floaters and flashes and why it is important to have them looked at if they come on suddenly: Sudden appearance of floaters and flashes can signal serious eye issues.
Second, my laser surgery gave me a renewed appreciation of advancements in science and medicine. I feel so lucky to be alive at a time when these eye issues can be corrected. I am thankful for the team of people who worked on my eye this week.
With my clear vision, I found a few fun things to share this weekend:
- Emma Straub’s Brooklyn Family Home Is a Book Lover’s Dream — I enjoyed this tour of Emma Straub’s home and the lightning round of book questions at the end. She has great bookshelves! (Cup of Jo)
- Dopamine Dressing: How to Dress For Your Happiness in 2022 — I’ve been seeing a lot about dopamine dressing lately. While I tend to be a conservative dresser, I am drawn to bright colors and patterns. What about you? (Very Well Mind)
- Here are a couple of blog posts about dopamine dressing:
- Bright Colors to Lift Spring Outfits (Midlife Chic)
- My Dopamine Closet (High Heels in the Wilderness)
- Ricotta Herb Spread — I’ll be serving this all summer! I hope that you like it as much as I do. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: Queer camp counselor was told not to come back. So they opened their own camp. — It’s good to know that there are people creating a safe and supportive camp environment for kids. (The Washington Post)
