I’m posting early today, because I’m headed back to CT to attend my father-in-law’s funeral and related events. It is good to be with family during times like these.
New England’s cold weather came late this year, but it’s here now. It’s time for warm sweaters and a lot of leaf raking!
If it is cold where you are, I hope that you have a warm and cozy weekend.
- I’m looking forward to David Lebovitz’s new book L’Appart. I would love to make it to one of his book signings.
- Speaking of David Lebovitz, his Pear and Almond Tart recipe looks amazing.
- Need something tasty for breakfast this weekend? Try this banana bread that I wrote about earlier this week.
- The way that we shop is changing. Are you ready? A delivery person unlocks your door and drops off your package inside your house. Here’s what might be coming soon. Software in your car detects a Starbucks nearby and asks if you want it to order your favorite Starbucks drink. When you are out of milk, your refrigerator orders more.
- I’m listening to Days Without End, the story of an Irish immigrant and his partner, fighting in the American Indian and Civil wars. Sebastian Barry writes of violence and love in a story that is intensely disturbing and often touchingly beautiful. Aidan Kelly is a great narrator, with a wonderful Irish accent.
