I’m looking forward to another island weekend. Also, Louis and Julia are arriving on Sunday! There’s nothing better than a visit with my child and his partner.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
Last week I read On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. It is a raw and powerful book and Vuong’s writing is exquisite. The night I finished it, I was having trouble sleeping and Vuong’s words kept running through my head. My husband read the book before I did and we kept talking about moments in it. I feel that it’s one of those stories that you carry with you for a long time, if not forever. (indiebound.org)
- Sula — I read this great book by Toni Morrison last month and thought it was quite a coincidence that Vuong write about Sula in his book. (indiebound.org)
- Zaila Avant-garde Makes Spelling History, and Other Moments From the Bee — Zaila is amazing! (The New York Times)
- How I Made Peace With My Divorce — This is an insightful essay on the impact of divorce and coping with it. (A Cup of Jo)
- Peach Raspberry Crisp — Make a batch of summer flavor and serve it for dessert this week. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: A teacher was pregnant. Students built a device so her spouse, who uses a wheelchair, can stroll with the baby. — What a great story about innovative students. (The Washington Post)
