It’s going to be cold and rainy on Saturday and I’m planning to stay inside and catch up on things. Sunday offers the only chance to get outside, although it will be cold. Time to pull out the wool socks for a long walk!
I hope that you are well and that you have a great weekend.
I scaled back my gift giving posts this year, but I did share a few things that you can purchase online and ship. Several items are from Massachusetts businesses.
I’ve done some of my holiday shopping online to mostly avoid stores. However, while the weather was still good, I enjoyed picking out items at the Farmers Market, a crafts person’s studio on Martha’s Vineyard, and at a lovely shop in Arlington. I’ve also made some food gifts. It feels like a good balance.
- As a homeless teen, I foraged for wild food to survive. The lessons still shape my cooking. — A powerful piece on fending for herself and a recipe for Fettuccine Alfredo Douglas Fir. (The Washington Post)
- Barack Obama on the Women Who Made Him — Barack talks about his mother, grandmother, Michelle, Sasha and Malia. (InStyle)
- Lemon Meringue Pie with Citrus Scented Sugar Crust — We only had one type of pie for Thanksgiving. I think that means we get another pie between now and Christmas. (Joy the Baker)
- Here are my annual gift giving ideas. I hope that they help with holiday shopping. (Sea Salt and Sailor Stripes)
- Goodness: This couple canceled their big wedding and instead gave Thanksgiving dinners to the needy. What a smart idea to use their nonrefundable catering deposit to cater food for those in need! (The Washington Post)
