What are you up to this weekend? I’m hoping to finish planting my vegetable garden and flower pots. When I’m done, I’ll sit in the yard and watch things grow.
Have a wonderful spring weekend.
In March and April, I stored fresh herbs in glasses of water, so that they would last longer. A good part of our small kitchen counter was dedicated to their storage and it was a messy business. Even the notoriously invasive mint refused to root and mint leaves joined the other dried detritus on the counter. With the arrival of warm weather, the herb jars moved to our three-season porch. It’s a relief to reclaim the counter space.
I’m excited about all of the herbs I’ve planted. I plant herbs each summer, but I am using more herbs than ever. I added dill to a recent batch of sourdough bread and served salmon with a dill pistou. I’ve been making a panzanella salad full of fresh herbs (and leftover sourdough bread).
Last weekend I turned old sesame-seeded hamburger rolls into apple, cranberry bread pudding. Something had to be done with those rolls. It was yummy!
