I’m looking forward to a three-day weekend and hoping to make progress getting my vegetable garden set up. I’m excited for a six-feet apart visit with my friends Susan and Houda (complete with masks and our own folding chairs) and grilling dinners with Tom.
I hope that you have a good Memorial Day weekend.
As we quarantine and our world gets smaller, it feels like what’s in our small world gets bigger. We’ve been watching the winged visitors to our bird feeders for years, but our attention to them this year is hyper-focused. As one neighbor said about her oriole and rose-breasted grosbeak sightings, it is amazing how exciting it is and how happy it makes us.
We continue to walk everywhere. Last weekend we added a fourth town to the list of towns we have walked to from our house.
My experiments with sourdough are teaching me a thing or two about baking bread. For example, last weekend I learned that if the dough seems too wet, trust your instincts and add more flour. My two loaves looked closer to focaccia than bread. They still tasted good (also, we’re so hungry these days).
