This weekend we’re headed to Martha’s Vineyard for a week’s vacation. Looking forward to lazy days and summer traditions (the Agricultural Fair, Illumination Night, Oak Bluffs fireworks, croquet, morning coffee in the backyard and so much more).
Have a fantastic summer weekend!
- Thinking of everyone impacted by the shootings last weekend. Here are two ways to contribute to the fight against gun violence. We can donate to Everytown and contact our local senators and representatives (you can find contact info here).
- Mourning the loss of Toni Morrison. I enjoyed NPR’s piece Toni Morrison’s Legacy and ‘s The Generosity of Toni Morrison.
- Last week Boston’s famous ducks from Make Way for Ducklings were separated in cages and covered with Mylar blankets in a political art installation.
- How to Talk to People, According to Terry Gross — If anyone can give tips on talking to people, it’s Terry. What a great interviewer!
- Who should play the Democratic presidential candidates on SNL? — Thinking ahead to the fall season.
- The Biggest Style Movement of Summer 2019 — I like the flower-power funkiness of some of these clothes. I really like the patchwork jeans. I’ve had a fondness for jeans with embroidery and patches since the early 70s. The best thing about these jeans (available for the crazy cost of $890.00!) is that you can make your own version of them for almost nothing.
Off to rummage through my fabric scraps… - I’m craving these Tahini and Pistachio Biscotti.
- Check out the annual Martha’s Vineyard celebration of The Grand Illumination Night, which will be happening next week.
- Goodness: Doing Good Recklessly.
