We have a busy weekend, with a trip to the Cape tomorrow to celebrate a friend’s birthday and a visit with family in CT on Sunday.
I hope that you have a relaxing summer weekend.
- Show Them the Money — Let’s see equal pay for the women soccer players!
- Stonewall and Beyond: Three older LGBTQ+ People on Witnessing Change — A reminder of how far our society has come, yet how unaccepting we are capable of being.
- Love these gorgeous photos of poppy fields!
- Music Lessons Improve Children’s Cognitive Skills and Academic Performance — Good evidence that music lessons make a difference.
- The White Cat and the Monk — I enjoyed this review of a new translation of an old Irish poem. The book’s illustrations are wonderful.
- A Book-Filled Manhattan Apartment Where Everything Tells a Story — Nice apartment tour and interview with its occupant, writer David Coggins. A few observations:
- Be sure to click on the link to his parents’ home. I enjoyed that house too.
- Great story about his friend putting his picture on the mantle.
- I can relate to being a book stacker. My bedside stack is going to topple over and bury me in my bed some night.
- Drip drying after a shower while drying the dishes. Ugh.
- “…the neighbors can see in, but I think people are no longer interested in what goes on in this apartment.” LOL.
- What Marie Kondo Carries Inside Her Extremely Tidy Purse — When asked how many items of clothing she purchased last year, Marie says, “…I think officially I would say just two pieces.” What’s the “unofficial” number?
- Let one of these Campari Spritzes quench your summer thirst.
- Goodness: The Urban Growers Collective project, called Fresh Moves, refurbishes old city buses, converts them into mobile produce stands, and brings fresh fruits and vegetables to urban Chicago neighborhoods that do not have access to fresh produce and healthy food.
About the photo: Wine jugs stacked outside of a wine store in Venice, Italy.
That Fresh Moves thing is awesome! I was just wondering the other day if something like that could work, and here somebody is doing it. 😀
It is great! I like to think about people being fed and having the opportunity to purchase fresh, healthy produce is so important. This story gives me hope.
