I’m headed to Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 94th birthday! She loves the island and summer, so it will be a special time for her.
Enjoy your first weekend of summer!
- The Love Story I Never Thought to Tell — On the joys of female friendships.
- An Example of Fortune — I stumbled upon this older post from Good Life Road and was so glad that I did!
- I enjoyed hearing snippets from Omoiyari, an album by artist Kishi Bashi. His inspiration for the music was visits to former Japanese-American internment camps and concerns about today’s current political climate. The music is beautiful and the message compelling – let’s learn from the lessons of yesterday.
- You can check out Mary Louise Kelly’s recent interview with Kishi Bashi on All Things Considered to learn more about the album’s creation.
- Shaken? Stirred? Sorry, Your Martini Has Already Been Mixed — As one person said, “For me, this simply does not spark joy.”
- I really like Everlane, so I was interested to see this review of the company’s new jumpsuits.
- Might I suggest an escape to glorious Venice, Italy?
- Goodness: The First Marathon to Swap Plastic Bottles for Biodegradable Pouches.

Congrats to your MIL! I hope everyone has a lovely time. (My grandmother just turned 96.)
96! That is fantastic!
