We finally have warmth and sunshine here in Boston, although it has been so hot that we are all instantly experiencing summer lethargy. I mean, from 50°ish to 90° almost overnight… Melting!
Temperatures get a bit cooler this weekend. We’re off to visit my in-laws to have a late Mother’s Day celebration. I’m also hoping to start potting flowers and getting the yard dressed up for summer.
Just for fun…
- The narration of this audio version of American Gods is great. This story of a conflict between ancient gods and goddesses and the new gods of our technological American society is worth a listen.
- Escape to the 19th century lives of women in a coastal New England town via Sarah Orne Jewitt’s The Country of the Pointed Firs and Other Stories. I’m reading this one in a used print copy, marked up by a former reader. It is a delightful journey.
- Everyone is raving about these jeans. I need a pair.
- I’m looking forward to wearing this pretty blue top this weekend.
- It’s rhubarb season! I want to try this recipe.
- I didn’t know that Habitat for Humanity had a National Women Build week. Leslie and Emily over at cupcakes and cashmere participated this year and helped build a house. Leslie and Emily, you rock!
About the photo: This delicious chocolate and raspberry birthday cake was provided by our generous hosts earlier this week at a celebration of our children’s college graduation and my son’s birthday. We brought the hydrangeas, found in a Fells Point flower shop not far from where we were staying.
