Happy Thanksgiving, 2020

Gourds and Squash on Display in an Old Hollow Log

I wish you all a happy holiday weekend.

Thanksgiving 2020, like the rest of this year, will be a challenge. I hope that you are able to reach out to family members and virtually share the holiday. Have something special to eat and be good to yourself.

I’m signing off for the rest of the week. I hope to squeeze in lots of walks, sleep in a little and watch a movie or two. We’re planning to connect with our son and other family members over Zoom or the phone. It feels a little lonely, but we will make the most of it.

If you’re making a traditional turkey dinner tomorrow and wondering what to do with leftovers, here’s an option my husband’s barber shared last year. His family always makes a Thanksgiving version of a Shepherd’s Pie. In a tall casserole dish or Dutch oven, layer turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more gravy. Bake it until hot. I might add some roasted vegetables this year.
